Primary Purpose Group-Dallas TX
|
History: The Bridge to Shore group was started in early 2007 by three dual addicted alcoholics and one crack addict. After years of going in and out of 12 step meetings with no solution we all finally ended up at the Primary Purpose Group of AA in Dallas, Texas. This group teaches the program of recovery exactly as outlined in the Big Book of AA with the help of a study guide written by some early members of the Primary Purpose Group. We four all found solid, solution based sobriety and have recovered from our seemingly hopeless state of mind and body as promised. As part of our program of action we have all taken the "carry the message" part of the 12th step to heart, and do so to many hospitals, institutions and wind up joints in the city. In doing so we discovered many others like us who had drug addictions and were desperately looking for true freedom, to be recovered from their addiction. AA was showing us the solution but due to their necessity to stay true to their "singleness of purpose" even AA could not really help us with our drug problem completely. We have found, through our experience and the experience of thousands before us, that there are two important things to consider:
So our fledgling group needed an affiliation and after much searching we discovered our brothers and sisters in Sweden who had had much the same experience and started Drugs Addicts Anonymous. We apply the steps and traditions as outlined in the Big Book of AA to our common problem and have found much joy and success in our own lives and fulfillment in carrying this message to other suffering addicts.
